Lillian M. Woodward, 93, of the Apostolic Christian Home, Rittman, formerly of Orrville, died May 24, 2010, at Dunlap Community Hospital, Orrville, following a short illness. Lillian was born June 7, 1916, in Birds Run, to the late William Frank and Martha Jane Miller. She was a 1934 graduate of Plainfield High School and later attended Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training at Mercy Hospital, Canton. She was a resident of Orrville since 1936, moving from Newcomerstown. She had been an LPN at Dunlap Memorial Hospital, Orrville, for over 30 years, usually in the OB department, and had also worked as a nurse in the offices of Drs. Roberts, Clark, and Weiner. She also had been employed at the J.M. Smucker Company, the former Courier Crescent office in Orrville, and the former J.C. Penney Store, Orrville. Lillian was an avid gardener, and enjoyed cooking, knitting, and her dogs. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Orrville, and was a member of the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of Eastern Star 208, and had been a grand representative to the state of Washington from Ohio. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Surviving are children, William “Bill” (Patricia) Woodward of Berea, Michael (Anita) Woodward of Orrville, and Myrna (Robert) McCurdy of Ada; grandchildren, Bryan (Jenise) Woodward, Bruce Woodward, Beth Woodward, David (Jennifer) Woodward, Christopher McCurdy, and Lisa (Steve) Retherford; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Woodward, Jaret Woodward, Robert B. McCurdy, Sean Thomas McCurdy, and Emma Retherford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron W. Woodward, whom she married in 1936; grandson, Darrin Woodward; brothers, Clarence and John Miller; and sisters, Caroline Booth, Lois Ruby, and Nellie Schweitzer. Services will be held June 6, 2010, at 2:30 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, Orrville, with Rev. David J. Kowaleski officiating. Private burial services will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville, at a time convenient to the family. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
