Dewey L. Costanza Sr., 88, of Zoarville, died June 1, 2010, at his home, lovingly surrounded by his family, following an extended illness.
Born August 21, 1921, in Wheeling, W.Va., Dewey was the son of the late Carl J. Costanza and Ruby A. Dotts. He retired in 1991 as a longtime manager of Buckeye Franklin Oil Company, Zoarville, where he worked for over 40 years.
Dewey served as a Sandyville trustee for 17 years. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City as well as sitting on the back porch with his canine companions, Libby, Mica, and Mia. He will be remembered for his kindness and friendliness. He was a stranger to no one and was a friend to everyone he met.
Surviving are a son, Dewey (Cindy) Costanza Jr. of Dover; daughter, Deborah (Bob) McKenzie of Dover; four grandchildren, Chris (Betsy) Costanza of Lakewood, and Tara (Andrew) Ireland, Luke McKenzie, and Matt McKenzie, all of Dover; three great-grandchildren, Quinn and Eva Costanza and Kacy Ireland; and half-brother, Archie (Barb) Huebner of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Costanza; second wife, Joann Costanza; and a sister.
Services will be held June 4, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with his grandson, Chris Costanza, officiating. Interment will be in Dover Burial Park. Friends may call June 3, from 5-8 p.m.
