Sanford L. “The Sandman” Hardesty, 49, of New Philadelphia, died May 27, 2010. Born April 10, 1961, in Cambridge, Sanford was a son of Sandra Hardesty of Navarre and the late Edward L. Hardesty. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School and lived a large portion of his life in the New Philadelphia area. He was known by his many friends as “The Sandman.” Sanford was a talented harmonica player and had a passion for music. He owned and operated Hard Audio Sound & Security Systems, specializing in electronics and custom-made audio cabinets. He attended Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship. Sanford’s friendly disposition made it so that he never met a stranger. He is sadly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are a son, Brayden Cash Hardesty of Wadsworth; sisters, Diana Denny of New Philadelphia, Julie Hardesty of Massillon, and Kim Wilburn of Newcomerstown; brothers, Brian Hardesty and Ralph (Cassie) Hardesty, both of Newcomerstown; several nieces and nephews, including Timberly Hardesty and David, Daniel, and Derek Welker; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Hardesty; maternal grandparents, Charles and Ethel Carter; and paternal grandparents, William and Wilma Hardesty. Services were held June 1, 2010, at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Tom Klaserner officiating. Burial was in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
