Helen E. Ford, 90, of New Philadelphia, died Jan. 13, 2011, at New Dawn Retirement Community, Dover, following a period of declining health. A daughter of the late Thomas and Della Moore, Helen was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Dover. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1938. On Dec. 12, 1943, she married Floyd B. Ford, and they shared 41 years of marriage prior to Floyd’s passing in 1985. Helen was employed at the former A&P Grocery Store, New Philadelphia, as a clerk, then held various office jobs while her husband served in the military. She was a member of Community of Christ Church, New Philadelphia, as well as the New Philadelphia Chapter of Eastern Star and NARFE Chapter 635. Over the years, Helen kept in touch with former employees of A&P and she enjoyed their monthly visits over lunch. Surviving are a daughter, Ida Jeanne (Chuck) Rowley of Costa Mesa, Calif.; grandchildren, Cathy (Bruce Jr.) Feister of Midvale, Chuck (Barbara) Colletti Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Nikki (Eric) Robinson of Santa Anna, Calif., and Lisa Frey of Corona, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Moore Jr. Services celebrating Helen’s life were held Jan. 17, at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Jim Watson officiating.
