Verne Carpenter, 98, of Millersburg, died July 8, 2011 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home.
Verne was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Coshocton County, to the late George G. and Violetta C. Lowery. She was a member of Millersburg Methodist Church and had taught school in Coshocton and Holmes counties for over 41 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth S. Carpenter, whom she married Nov. 24, 1944; sister, Dolores Lowery; and son, George Carpenter.
Graveside services will be held July 12, at 11 a.m., in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
