Emanuel Barkman, 82, of Fredericksburg, died July 8, 2011, at his home, following a brief illness. Emanuel was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Farmerstown, to the late John and Elizabeth Barkman. He retired in 1991 from Riceland Cabinet and was a farmer. He also provided transportation for the Amish community and was a member of United Dayspring Mennonite Church, Berlin. Surviving are his wife, Viola Barkman, whom he married March 25, 1989; children, Ruth (Al) Hochstetler of Fredericksburg, Carol (Delmar) Falb of Dalton, David (Mary) Barkman of Apple Creek, and Rose Mary Barkman of Canon City, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Albert Barkman of Lakeland, Fla., Atlee (Mary) Barkman of Millersburg, and Raymond Barkman of McConnelsville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tena Barkman, whom he married Oct. 16, 1949; a grandson; and sister, Anna Mae Troyer. Services will be held July 11, at 10 a.m., at Fairlawn Mennonite Church, 8520 Emerson Rd., Apple Creek, with Pastors John Yoder and Myron Miller officiating. Burial will be in East Union Mennonite Church Cemetery near Orrville. Friends may call July 10, from 2-6 p.m., or one hour prior to services. Spidell Funeral Home, Mt.
