Lee Sparks Lee J. “Sparky” Sparks, 72, of New Philadelphia, died Jan. 6, 2010, following a sudden illness. A son of the late Ed and Lavinna Sparks, Lee was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Newport. For a number of years, he worked as a farmhand for area dairy farms and ultimately retired as a laborer. Surviving are a daughter, Jane Sparks-Markle and her former husband, John Markle; his former wife, Becky (Jones) Gardner; and a grandson, Thomas H. Markle, all of New Philadelphia. There will be no visitation or services, and cremation care will be handled through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory, Dover.
