OBITUARY

                        
Budd C. Deuker, 80, of Sugarcreek, died March 1, 2010, at his residence, following a six-month illness. Budd was born June 4, 1929, in Tuscarawas County, to the late Glen Deuker and Opal Deuker McCullough. He retired from Belden Brick, where he was superintendent of the gas department, and was also a Sugarcreek Township trustee for over 25 years, served on the Tuscarawas County Board of Health for 11 years, and was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, and was a member of Sugarcreek American Legion Homer Weiss Post 494. He enjoyed playing golf, his 1929 Model A antique car, attending Garaway athletic events to watch his grandchildren, and fishing trips to Canada. Surviving are his wife, Marlene Deuker, whom he married in 1950; daughters, Marla (Rodney) Snyder of Baltic and Ginger (Chuck) Elmore of Sugarcreek; five grandchildren, Justin (Danni) Elmore, Preston Elmore, Gabe Elmore, Tanika (John) Hawley, and Corey Snyder; siblings, Richard (Ginny) Dueker of Loris, S.C., Beverly Glidden of Sugarcreek, and Jerry (Myra) Dueker of Tuscarawas; and sister-in-law, Faye Mast of Sugarcreek. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Dean Mast and Wylie Glidden; and a niece, Shelly Lucas. Services will be held March 4, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Union Hill United Methodist Church, Sugarcreek, with Rev. Carl Kandel officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, where the Sugarcreek American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call March 3, from 5-8 p.m., at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 1018 W.
