OBITUARY

                        
Edith “Edie” P. Maurer, 85, of Dundee, died March 3, 2010, at Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, following an extended illness. Born July 20, 1924, in Dover, Edie was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ella Lenarz. She was a retired employee of the former Alsco Anaconda Plant, Sugarcreek, where she worked for over 30 years. She attended Dundee United Methodist Church, where she participated in the ladies auxiliary, and also attended the Church of New Hope, Dover. Over the years, she was active in the Dundee Sportsman’s Club Auxiliary and the Shady Rest Army Navy Auxiliary. She had many interests and hobbies and could often be found square dancing and polka dancing. She loved country music and enjoyed a good game of joss and euchre. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family as well as gardening and canning. She will be remembered for her generosity and was known as “Candy Lady” from sharing her candy with the neighborhood children and others. Surviving are a daughter, Candy (Pete) Miller of Bolivar; sons, David (Kay) Maurer of Dundee, Dennis Maurer of Tuscarawas, and Greg Maurer of Warsaw; sisters, Norma Miller of New Philadelphia and Ruth (Dean) McElroy of West Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen Maurer; daughter, Debra Schatzel; brothers, Robert and Dale Lenarz; and sisters, Maxine and Lillian Lenarz. Services were held March 8, 2010, at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Dan Legg officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Dundee Cemetery.
