OBITUARY

                        
Mary Jeane Neiger, 82, of New Philadelphia, died March 6, 2010, at Hennis Care & Retirement Centre, Dover. A daughter of the late William and Lois Stewart, Mary was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Freeport. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Neiger’s Drive-In for many years. After closing the drive-in, the couple managed many different motels across Ohio, Arizona, and California until their retirement. Mary was a member of Jerusalem Church and worked for many years as a waitress at the former L&K, Randall’s, and Delphian Restaurants. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was also an avid fan of Jamboree in the Hills and personally attended many of the summertime concerts. Surviving are children, Linda Trimble Mathias (companion, Larry Mathias), Phil (Sue) Neiger, and Craig Neiger, all of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Dummermuth of New Philadelphia; and brother, Ed Stewart of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jacob Neiger, whom she married in 1947; and sister, Donna Gray. Services will be held March 9, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Jerusalem Church, with Dr. Terry Downin officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the fellowship hall at the church.
