OBITUARY

                        
Walter E. Filkins, 86, of Dover, died March 7, 2010, at Union Hospital, following a brief illness. Born March 14, 1923, in Cleveland, Walter was the son of the late Edmund and Flora Filkins. He retired in 1988 from the U.S. government and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Dover, and NARFE. He was an avid fisherman and could often be found at Leesville and Clendening Lakes. He was a member of the Husky Muskie Club. Surviving are his wife, Frances Filkins; sister, Helen Allen of California; brother-in-law, Thomas (Dorothy) Armstrong of Shreve; and nine nieces and nephews, Thomas (Laura) Allen, Rick Allen, Christine Calvert, George (Janet) Strassburger, Celia Pang, Cindy (Tim) Larson, Diane (Doug) Thompson, Mary (Jeff) Gindlesberger, and Jim (Pam) Armstrong. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy, Pauline, and Delores. Services were held March 10, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church, Dover, with Dr. William Haggis officiating.
