OBITUARY

                        
Ernest R. Marburger, 78, a Dover resident all his life, died suddenly March 9, 2010, at his home. Ernest was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Dover, to the late Rudy A. and Carrie F. Marburger. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1950 and purchased a new 1950 Ford 8N Tractor that he used for custom farming. He was drafter into the U.S. Army in 1954 and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., where he served state side during the Korean War as a tank mechanic. Ernest was a gentleman farmer all his life and raised polled hereford cattle, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also had worked at the former Sparta Mfg., Columbia, for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Ruslin Hills Church, Dover, and was confirmed at the former Zoar Evangelical and Reform Church, Zoar, and a member of Bolivar American Legion Post 190. Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Marburger, whom he married in 1962; children, Jeffery E. (Mary Beth) Marburger of Dover and Karen J. (Michael L.) Palm of Winthrop, Wash.; six grandchildren, Andrew J., Caleb C., Jacob G., and Lily L. Marburger and Joshua M. (Courtney) Palm and Justin L. Palm. Services will be held March 15, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Ruslin Hills Church, 5839 Ruslin Hills Church Rd. NW, Dover, with Pastor Duane Houser officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, with Bolivar American Legion Post 190 conducting military graveside services. Calling hours will be March 14, from 5-8 p.m., at Lebold Funeral Home, Bolivar, and one hour before services. Those who wish may sign his online register at www.leboldfuneralhome.com.
