Phyllis Mallernee obituary

                        
Phyllis J. Mallernee, 82, a longtime resident of Uhrichsville and Tippecanoe, died Feb. 22, 2010, at Twin City Hospital, Dennison, following a lengthy illness. Born July 15, 1927, in New Philadelphia, Phyllis was a daughter of the late Alonzo W. and Mary Jane O’Guin. She was a 1946 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before moving to the Tippecanoe area, where she operated a concrete business with her husband and later served as postmistress. She was also a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Phyllis was an avid reader who enjoyed baking and crocheting, and especially loved travel, including many day trips with her husband over the years. She was a founding member of the Tippecanoe Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary, where she helped with countless fundraising projects, and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was Methodist by faith. Surviving are daughters, Mary Jayne (Ted) Lyon of Tippecanoe and Stephanie Jenkins of New Philadelphia; daughter-in-law, Pat Mallernee of Tuscarawas; six grandsons, James A. Jenkins of Dover, Lon A. (Lisa) Jenkins of Columbus, Dean E. (Stacy) Mallernee III of New Philadelphia, Trevor G. (Kimberly) Mallernee of Dover, and Ted A. “JR” Lyon II and Kirt N. Lyon, both of Tippecanoe; two great-granddaughters, Ella Maria Mallernee of Dover and Avery Elizabeth Jenkins of Columbus; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean E. Mallernee, whom she married in 1946. In keeping with Phyllis’s wishes, private family services will be held without public visitation. Interment will follow beside her husband in Greenmont Cemetery, Freeport. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution may do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
