Randy Lee Wallick

                        
Randy Lee Wallick, 47, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Akron General Hospital. A son of Izena (Dale) Couch of New Philadelphia and the late Marion Wallick, Jr. Randy was born at Union Hospital in Dover Feb. 18, 1967. He attended Dover and New Philadelphia City Schools and for the past 19 years has worked for Skipco Financial Adjusters in Canal Fulton. Randy loved vacationing with his family and taking trips to the beach. He was also passionate about trying unique foods and grilling in the backyard. For many years, he followed the demolition derby circuit and often raced a car of his own. He loved walking his dog, Bubba and being with J.B., the family cat. Any time a friend or family member needed help, Randy was there to lend a hand. He had a love for the Lord and in 2001 he took a mission trip to the Philippines with a team from the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, where he had previously attended. Most recently, Randy had discovered the music of Joe Bonamassa and enjoyed listening to his works. In addition to his mother and step-father, Randy will be missed by his wife of 24 years, the former Karen Harrop, whom he married Dec. 23, 1989; his daughters, Courtney Ann Wallick of South Carolina, Megan Michelle (Corporal Andrew, U.S. Marine Corps) Detweiler of North Carolina; his siblings, Patricia (Charles) Pankratz of Cleveland, Rev. James (Shelia) Wallick of Newcomerstown and Garry Wallick of New Philadelphia. Completing the family are a brother-in-law, Jeff Harrop of Dover; a sister-in-law, Amanda (Rick) Martin of New Philadelphia, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to his father, Randy was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mona and Ed Harrop and a special grandmother, Clara Wallick. The family received guests Monday, March 10 from 4-7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Rev. James Wallick and Rev. Dean Teal led a service celebrating Randy’s life in the funeral home’s chapel Monday at 7 p.m. Following the service, all were invited to share in a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Private burial in the East Avenue Cemetery will take place at a later date.
