Richard Dean Franks, 69, of Shreve passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 at Majora Lane Care Center, Millersburg following an extended illness. He was born June 19, 1944 in Shreve, and was the son of Ralph E. and Lucille (Shoup) Franks. On March 27, 1966 he married Judith Alice Ennis and she survives. He worked for Scot Industries and was a truck driver all his life. He was a member of Bigelow United Methodist Church. Richard loved spending time with his grandkids and riding his John Deere. He enjoyed watching sports, mowing, and working on cars. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Robert Franks of Rosedale, Minn., Robbin (Eric) Maynard of Millersburg, and Ralph (Paula) Franks of Calera, Ala.; six grandchildren, Danette (Tim) Ewing of Mt. Vernon, Haliegh Maynard of Columbus, August Maynard and Allison Maynard both of Millersburg, Dominic Franks of Calera, Ala., and Aurora Yoder-Franks of Calera, Ala.; one great-grandchild, Nolan Ewing, and one more on the way; brothers and sisters, Thomas (Betty) Franks of Loudonville, Cordelia (Don) Tate of Shreve, Doris (Ray) Nickle of Big Prairie, Donald (Julie) Franks of Haysville, Marilyn Sigler of Mills River, N.C., Larry Franks of Shreve, Carolyn (Robert) Remington of Avon Lake, Gerald (Gloria) Franks of Big Prairie, Linda (Richard “Dick”) Collins of Shreve, and Kenneth (Pat) Franks of Killbuck, and a sister-in-law, Kathy Franks of Loudonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cecil and Robert Franks; one sister, Maxine (Don) Miller, and a brother-in-law, Ed Sigler. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Bigelow United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane McCartney officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Bigelow United Methodist Church, 7818 CR 51, Big Prairie 44611.
