Robert D. Hazlett

                        
Robert D. Hazlett, 66, of Big Prairie died unexpectedly Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1947 in Masina, N.Y. and was the son of Phillip Robert and Loretta (Eamon) Hazlett. He was a 1967 graduate of West Holmes High School. Robert was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Seabees. He drove truck for Millersburg Ice. He was a member of Am Vets of Mansfield, the Loudonville American Legion and a life member of the Perrysville VFW. He is survived by two sisters, Carole (Stanley) Gilbert and Bonnie Hazlett both of Big Prairie; two nieces, Kelly Gilbert of the Holmes County Home and Laura (Jamie) Rogers of Holmesville; a nephew, Christopher (Heather) Gilbert of Lakeville; and six great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, Kenneth S. and Robert A. Gilbert. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, with Military Rites conducted by Loudonville American Legion Post 0257. Arrangements were handled by Alexander Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alexander Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Millersburg 44654 to help with expenses. The family would like to thank the Holmes County Sheriff’s Dept., Smith Ambulance and Alexander Funeral Home for the care and support they showed toward them.
