Robert Dale “Bob” Zuchegno, 72, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, following a long decline in his health. Born July 23, 1941, in Dover, he was a son of the late Dominic and Barbara Kalich Zuchegno. Bob attended St. Joseph School at Dover, and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the time of the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he was employed by the Evans Clay Manufacturing Co. at Midvale. An accident later in life left him a paraplegic and he was unable to work again. Bob married Victoria “Katie” Vaughn Crowe on Oct. 30, 1974, and the couple shared thirty-eight years of marriage before Katie’s passing on Nov. 23, 2012. Bob loved to go fishing; any time he had a line in the water he was happy. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers on television. Bob was a Roman Catholic, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose, both in Dover. Survivors include his step-daughter and loving caregiver, Bonnie K. In addition to his parents, and his beloved Katie, Bob was preceded in death by his step-son, Boyd D. Crowe; his sister, Deborah K. Garner; his brothers, Eugene J. and Leonard D. Zuchegno. A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 16, at 10:30 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Deacon Ron Fondriest of St. Joseph Church, Dover, officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park where the Dover post of the V.F.W. will perform military rites. The family suggests that contributions in Bob’s memory be made to the Missions Fund of NewPointe Community Church, 3950 Ste. Rte. 39 N.W., Dover 44622.
