Robert Edgar obituary

                        
Robert E. Edgar, 77, of Beach City, died Jan. 24, 2010, at Aultman Hospital, Canton, following a brief illness. A son of the late Fred H. and Frances I. Edgar, Bob was born June 23, 1932, in Unionvale, Harrison County. As a young man, he entered the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Panama. Following his tour of duty, he began a career that spanned for more than 25 years with the former Norfolk & Western Railroad as a brakeman on the rail line, and later held the position of conductor. During his spare time and into retirement life, Bob devoted a great deal to Strasburg Masonic Lodge 604 of the F&AM. His active involvement within the organization led him to serve as the club’s master mason on two different occasions and serve as the clubs secretary for a number of terms. Additionally, he was active as a member of both the Scottish and York Rites and also held the position of past district education officer. Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances “Fran” Edgar; children, Tina Garabrandt of Beach City and Fred (Judy) Edgar of Navarre; sisters, Martha Bulian and Evelyn Applegarth Carter, both of St. Clairsville; two grandchildren, Nikki (Nate) Seal of Beach City and Bryan (Lory) Garabrandt of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Ashlyn. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Edgar and Orville Edgar; and son-in-law, Bryan Garabrandt. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation care will be handled through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory, Dover. Family will hold private services at a later date.
