Robert Fishburn obituary

                        
Robert D. “Fish” Fishburn, 87, of Wooster, died Jan. 13, 2010, at Wooster Community Hospital. Robert was born April 19, 1922, in Nashville, to the late Leo and Hazel Fishburn. He had been a Wayne County resident most of his life and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-45. He was an active member of Wooster Church of the Nazarene for many years and was involved with numerous activities through the church including Sunday school teacher, On Top of the Hill Gang senior group, the Missionary Council, the Layman’s Retreat, and helped umpire the men’s church softball teams for many years. Along with his wife, he enjoyed traveling to Canada for vacations during the summers for many years. Surviving are a son, Larry A. Fishburn of Wooster; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Fred Fishburn of Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fishburn, whom he married in 1946; son, Dale Fishburn; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Fishburn; and many brothers. Services were held Jan. 18, 2010, at Wooster Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Wade Brill officiating. Interment was in Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wooster, where military rites were conducted. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.custerglenn.com.
