Robert Purdy obituary

                        
Robert A. Purdy, 76, of Doylestown, died Jan. 23, 2010. Robert was born May 7, 1933, in Millersburg, to the late William J. and Dorothy Purdy, and was a resident of Doylestown since 1962. He attended The Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University, graduating with a pharmacy degree, and was a founding member of a pharmacy fraternity at Ohio Northern University. The owner and operator of Purdy’s Pharmacy for 20-plus years, he retired from Chippewa Township Fire Department after many years as a fireman and EMT. He attended Grace Church, Norton Campus, and was also a PADI scuba diving instructor and a longtime member of the CTNO Thunderbird Club. Surviving are his wife, Linda Purdy; sons, Robert W. (Julie) Purdy of Fairborn, Steven R. (Mary) Purdy of Columbiana, David S. (Lorie) Purdy of Doylestown, and Jon (Janet) Purdy of Chaska, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Stephanie, Justin, Hallie, Noah, Elaina, Megan, and Collin; sisters, U.S. Air Force Col. (retired) Patricia Purdy, Wanda (Don) Hockenberry, Mary Alice (Gary) Shade, and Becky (Dan) Shilling; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Jan. 25, 2010, at Grace Church, Norton Campus, with Pastor Robert P. Combs officiating. Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, Doylestown, handled arrangements.
