Sally A. Hershey
Sally A. Hershey, age 66 of Orrville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a year-long battle with myelodysplastic syndrome cancer.
Sally was born Feb. 17, 1952, in Massillon to the late Clair and Joann (Kraft) Rehm, graduated from Orrville High School in 1970 and received an LPN nursing degree at the Wayne County Career Center. She married Ken W. Hershey on June 10, 1972, in Orrville.
Sally was an LPN at Dunlap Memorial Hospital for 25 years and then worked as an IS teacher’s aide for Orrville City School for the last 13 years.
Sally was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville. She enjoyed outdoor activities like walking, hiking, camping and boating. Most of all she was devoted to her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Sally was an amazing individual who will be greatly missed because she always found the positive in everything and everyone. She was a compassionate and empathetic listener and showed remarkable strength throughout her life, but especially in the last four months.
Surviving are her husband, Ken Hershey; daughters, Heather (Richard) Hershey-Tompkins of Orrville, Michelle (Don) Savchuk of Bradenton, Florida and Amy (Tim) Hostetler of Orrville; grandchildren, Corbin and Carson Tompkins, Beckett and Greyson Savchuk, and Hadyn, Jensen and Molly Hostetler; and two sisters, Marian (Chuck) Craft of Wooster and Carolyn Hall of Columbus.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30 at Christ United Church of Christ, 301 N. Main St., Orrville, with Pastor Michael Bone officiating.
