Verna M. Gingerich, of Hartville, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, Oct. 14, 2021, just nine days shy of her 102nd birthday.

Verna was born near Kingsdown, Kansas, to Moses Sr. and Lydia (Stutzman) Gingerich on Oct. 23, 1919.

In 1921, she moved to Hartville with her family and lived on the Gingerich farm north of town. Verna was a perfectionist and was a skilled seamstress. In her early years, she served alongside of several Hartville doctors in home deliveries. She also cleaned at Lake High School for many years.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jonas, Noah, Elmer, infant brother Roy, John, and Moses Jr.; and by sisters, Elizabeth Gingerich and Anna Sommers. She is survived by her only sibling, Betty Marie Troyer of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and by great-great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held Sunday, Oct. 17, at Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church, 10547 Market Ave. with a burial immediately following at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Pastor Eugene Sommers officiating.
