Vernon Troyer

                        
Vernon J. Troyer, 83, of Baltic, died Sept. 22, 2012, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. Vernon was born April 9, 1929, in Holmes County, to the late Jonas A. and Sarah Troyer. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Vernon is survived by his wife, the former Edna E. Hershberger, whom he married Feb. 4, 1954; children, Esther (Eli) Burkholder of Sugarcreek, Albert (Vesta) Troyer of Baltic, Delbert (Mary) Troyer of Charm, Aden Troyer and Eli (Sarah) Troyer, both of the home, Mary (Dan) Raber of Baltic, Sarah (Leroy) Miller of Sugarcreek, Johnny (Clara) Troyer and Effie (Henry) Raber, both of Fresno, and Willis (Margaret) Troyer of Baltic; daughter-in-law, Emma (Eli) Nisley of Butler; sisters, Katie (Henry J.) Raber of Greenwich and Emma (Samuel) Schwartz of Seymour, Mo.; 46 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Sylvanus; brothers, Owen and Andy; and sister, Esther. Services will be held Sept. 25, at 9 a.m., at the Troyer residence, with Bishop Emanuel H. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Troyer Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek.
