William David Burns, 71, of Uhrichsville, died August 18, 2012, at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, following a brief illness. A son of the late Ralph and Jessie Burns, Bill was born April 27, 1941, in Uhrichsville. He graduated from Uhrichsville High School and was retired from Ruger Equipment, Uhrichsville. He will be remembered not only as being a devoted and loving husband and father but also as a devoted and loving grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandson play sports. He also enjoyed attending car shows with his 1978 El Camino and meeting and talking to friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Arlinda Faye Burns; daughters, Melinda (Mark) Hamilton and Lisa (Eddie) Willis, both of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Josh (Jess) Link and Kyle and Kayla Willis, all of Uhrichsville; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Liberty, and Maddie Link and Gabby and Ellie Short; brothers, Bobbie Burns of Florida and Jack Burns of Akron; and sister, Sue (Dave) Smith of Uhrichsville. He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Berkshire and Donald Burns; and sisters, Lois Heter, June Bunch, Jeannine Burns, and Kay Grey. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services, and cremation will take place through the care of Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia. Private graveside services will be held in Union Cemetery, Uhrichsville, at a later date.
