William C. Pfister

                        
William C. Pfister, 76, of 120 Pfister Dr., Sugarcreek, died Saturday, Nov. 3, at Country Club Nursing Home in Dover following a period of declining health. He was born August 7, 1936 to Cletus and Bernetha (Weaver) Pfister. He is retired from Greer Steel Co. in Dover where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church at Sugarcreek, a Navy veteran having served during the Korean War and a member of the Sugarcreek American Legion. He was married March 24, 1956 to the former Carol Widdoes who died Nov. 17, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Bambi (Rick) Maurer of New Philadelphia, and his son, William (Teresa) Pfister of Fresno; six grandchildren, Shaun Pfister, Erin Gerstung, Matt Pfister, Michelle Pfister, Scott Papini and Jason Maurer; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Karolyn (Jim) Lee of Colorado; and half sister, Bea Visintainer of Georgia. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Pfister, and grandson, Tommy Ghee. Services were held on Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m., at the First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek with Pastor Jayne Byler officiating. Sugarcreek American Legion conducted Military Honors following the services. Arrangements were handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek. Memorials may be made to Sugarcreek American Legion.
