Kids Collection making quality furniture, naturally

Kids Collection in Walnut Creek continues to keep up with changing times in terms of national trends in furniture, like the move away from light oak to darker stains and less granular woods like rustic cherry and maple, as well as staying on top of the industry’s demanding safety regulations. Because the store deals with numerous local Amish furniture makers, quality is a given. But the connection to local manufacturers also allows Kids Collection’s highly qualified sales staff to work with customers to custom-build furniture, which is a huge advantage when someone is trying to match existing furniture or create a new look for their home. Throw in a complete line of educational toys, and you can see why Kids Collection offer’s a family’s one-stop dream for home decor and toys. “We encourage people to bring us their ideas, because we have the ability to improvise, work closely with our manufacturers and create a piece of furniture people will be happy with,” said Austin. “The other great thing here is that people can get a true sense of what they are going to get because we have so much on the showroom floor. They’re not ordering from some magazine. It’s very hands-on, and we can adapt to what they want. Plus, Kids Collection offers 18 styles of cribs, in addition to lofts and bunks.” One other big advantage for the store this year is that it moved back under one roof, at its original Walnut Creek location. Two years ago, Kids Collection had moved much of its toy inventory to Berlin, but when the two stores to the east of Kids Collection at the Walnut Creek location opened up, the Masts jumped at the opportunity to bring all of their merchandise to one central location. “It’s a lot easier to provide great service, and the stores feed off of each other,” said Fran Mast, who co-owns the store with her husband, Abe.
