When the Killbuck Savings Bank advertises itself as a community bank, they are not simply mouthing a comforting slogan. Since Sept. 23, 1900, when the bank was established in Killbuck, Ohio, Killbuck Savings has been locally owned and managed. That first office has now expanded to include offices in Berlin, Mount Hope, Millersburg, Danville, Sugarcreek, Apple Valley, and German Village. One thing, however, has remained the same. The staff of each of these facilities live, work, worship, play, and serve each day in the same communities as those in which they conduct business. Killbuck’s eight branch managers – Heidi Gindlesberger, Rhonda Angel, Marion Troyer, Gary Atkinson, Marcene Cullen, Vic Weaver, Kurt Stutzman, and Jim Mirich, have shown themselves to be an integral part of their hometown communities in multiple ways. Not only will you see them behind the doors at Killbuck Savings Bank, but you will also encounter them giving of their time to help their neighbors through community service. The list of community projects in which Killbuck Savings staff has been involved is a long one. Some have helped at area festivals and fairs: the Danville Howard Turkey Festival, Gann Festival, Berlin’s Harvest Festival, Holmes County Antique Festival, Holmes County Home Festival, St. Luke’s Festival, the Ohio Swiss Festival in Sugarcreek each fall, and Holmes and Knox county fairs. They may be seen assisting at area celebrations and school and sporting events: Classic in the Country, Danville Country Holiday Christmas, Danville Amish School Auction, Danville National Honor Society, high school concession stands, Killbuck Early American Days, West Holmes Theater’s Breakfast with Belle, or the Holmes County College Fair. Those same Killbuck Saving’s Bank folks willingly do their best to raise much needed funds for important causes by helping with: Cruisin’ for a Cure, ACS’s Golf for Life, Relay for Life, Lions’ Club fundraisers, Share a Christmas, the Holmes County Training Center Auction, Mt. Hope Sundown Sale, Pomerene Hospitals’ Fall Trail Run/Walk or Starlight Scramble, the Special Olympics Track & Field Day, or the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The Killbuck Savings team truly cares about their community. Moreover, along the way, they have also provided such exceptional service and financial responsibility that they have recently been awarded a distinguished 5-Star Superior rating from BauerFinancial, Inc. The nation’s bank rating firm, BauerFinancial has awarded the 5-Star rating for 74 consecutive banking quarters. This places Killbuck Savings Bank in the top six percent of the nation’s banks. “In today’s world, that ranking is particularly important. Because of the large bank failures, customers are much more aware of a bank’s stability,” said Paula Aurand, Killbuck’s director of marketing. “It should be comforting for our customers to know that we are so highly rated. We’ve never been one to toot our own horn, but we want people to rest assured that Killbuck Savings Bank is stable.” Local ownership means that Killbuck Savings Bank is truly invested in the communities it serves. Their reputation for the convenience offered through six accessible offices, competitive rates, and continued offering of innovative products regardless of the economic climate at large speaks for itself. Killbuck Savings Bank heads into 2010, continuing its commitment to serving its customers – and its communities – better than ever.
