Ready To Learn

Those with a soon-to-be kindergartner can get on the list to receive a Ready To Learn activity packet. The packet contains activities to do at home to help develop kindergarten-readiness skills, and participants also will receive a free copy of “Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten.”

The first 40 people to register will receive the free packet. Registration began on May 3 with the packets becoming available the week of May 17. Miss Elizabeth also will post a video on the library’s YouTube channel that week to explain the activities.

For more information call the children’s department at 330-683-1065 ext. 3617.

Database Showcase

Orrville Public Library offers a free online database, Fold3, for genealogy research. From the drop-down menu on the website at www.orrville.lib.oh.us, click the Adult tab, click Research Databases and scroll to find Fold3.

Fold3 aims to be the premiere online source for researching U.S. military records. Launched in 2007 as Footnote.com, the site was purchased by Ancestry.com in 2010. The site was renamed Fold3, a reference to the flag-folding ceremony in which the third fold is said to memorialize veterans. The site contains content from the Revolutionary War onward. Under the Memorials tab, people can virtually visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.

Spring Book Review

If you’re looking for something new to read, Orrville Public Library’s Trendy Titles Spring Book Review is a great place to start. The library has created three PowerPoint presentations that will highlight Starred Reviews, books rated by the top book magazines; Popular, new books by popular authors; and new books by Family Reading authors.

All three PowerPoint presentations will be available on Facebook and YouTube starting Monday, May 17. No registration is required.
