Mobilizing community resources to help people measurably improve their lives is the mission of United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties. This year is no exception with the campaign goal set at $1.65 million.

With Katie Koglman as CEO, along with the board of directors, UWWH continues to see increased needs across the communities it serves.

“This year, as is true every year, we understand the importance of hitting the goal. It allows us to help so many hard-working people who have been struggling the last few years,” Koglman said. “We help those that work a full-time job and still can’t meet their families’ needs — those that do not qualify for other types of support and fall through the cracks. We are here to help those individuals through our funded partners when times are tough.”

This year the United Way campaign theme is “Just, Love.”

“Yes, a comma because we know the importance of pausing,” Koglman said. “In a world rushed to point fingers, assign blame, cancel and complain, we wanted to remember to pause and love. Love is the answer to strife, hurt and division. We just love Wayne and Holmes counties and want to do our part to continue making it the very best place to live, work and raise families. We need your help to do this.”

One donation to UWWH funds many needs in the community that are local programs led by local organizations such as American Red Cross, Anazao Community Partners, Boys & Girls Club of Wooster, Catholic Charities, Forget-Me-Not Baskets, Goodwill Industries, Holmes Center for the Arts, Holmes County Health District, Learn N Play, NAMI, OHuddle, OneEighty, Salvation Army Wooster, The Counseling Center, Viola Startzman Clinic, Wayne Center for the Arts, Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center, Wayne County Schools Career Center, Wooster City Schools and YMCA.

In addition to the funded partner programs, UWWH manages Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and WHIRE, the first call for help line. Funds also are secured for Reading Under the Lights and The Severe Weather Shelter.

United Way of Wayne and Holmes is asking community members to consider a gift of any size to help toward the goal. Donate by calling the office at 330-264-5576; mailing a gift to 215 S. Walnut St., Wooster, OH 44691; visiting www.uwwh.org; or texting JUSTLOVE to 44-321.
