There will be several arts and alleys events happening the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17 in downtown New Philadelphia.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., there will be a ribbon-cutting event for Artagain Alley, which is located on West High between Mancan and Art and Soul Gallery and behind Alley Cats Marketplace.

Artagain Alley was inspired by downtown businesses to transform the 100-foot pedestrian alley into a year-round rotating outdoor gallery space. Artagain Alley will feature vinyl artwork images of original pieces from 17 artists along its walls and iron arches created by John McDonald.

Artwork images came from artists located in Alley Cats Marketplace, Art and Soul Gallery, Tusc Arts Cooperative, the Tuscarawas Art Guild and Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, and from an open call selection.

Alley Cats Marketplace, Museum Acrylics and Tuscarawas Arts Partnership collaborated on the project. The alley was repaved courtesy of the City of New Philadelphia and lighting arranged by Wood Electric. Other contributors and funders for the project include AARP Ohio, Christy Bloom, Cooper Standard, DJK Crown LLC, New Philadelphia Rotary Heritage Fund, PNC Foundation, The City of New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County Community Foundation and Wood Electric Inc.

Art on the Alley will be Oct. 17 from noon to 6 p.m. along Ashwood Lane and First Drive Northwest and Southwest.

For this event the community is invited to wear costumes with the artists, and kids can participate in trick-or-treating at participating vendor spaces and downtown businesses.

Art on the Alley will have live music performances, kids activities, local art available for purchase and more. Stay up to date on the latest for Art on the Alley on its Facebook and Instagram pages or visit www.tuscarawasartspartnership.org/art-on-the-alley.
