Baker wins top all-around gymnast

Tuscarawas County YMCA compulsory and optional gymnastics teams competed in an NEO league meet at the Wayne County YMCA in Wooster on Saturday, Jan. 25. Jaycie Baker led the team with a 36.2 out of 40 points and captured first place in vault, floor and all around. Others winning first place were Mia McPeek on floor, Gracyn Beaber on vault, Aria Sanner on beam, Avery Elmer on vault and Jordynn Roden on floor.
Twenty-one of the 31 local gymnasts who competed earned at least one or more 9.0 or higher score. Baker and Ellie Horger each had three nines. Jaycie Baker had 9.05 on beam, 9.35 on vault and 9.6 on floor. Horger had 9.0 on vault, 9.0 on bars and 9.1 on floor.
Gymnasts who earned a first through 10th place in individual events were as follows:
Level 7
—Jaycie Baker: first on vault, floor and all around; second on beam; and third on bars.
—Mia McPeek: first on floor; fourth on bars, beam and all around; and fifth on vault.
