Co-Ed basketball school teaches the fundamentals

                        
The Co-Ed Fundamental Basketball School for area junior and senior high school students will be held June 7, 8 and 9 at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. Ed McGlumphy, men’s basketball coach at Kent State Tuscarawas, will direct the school. Two sessions will be offered with grades 6, 7 and 8 meeting from 8 a.m. until noon, and grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 from 1-5 p.m. This indoor school features three full courts and one coach for every eight players. Students will learn basketball fundamentals and shooting with the Shoot-a-Way method. McGlumphy has 44 years of coaching experience with 465 total wins, 25 winning seasons, 50 playoff wins and 10 years experience as an athletic director. He has received 10 Coach of the Year awards, was inducted into the Ohio High School Coaches Hall of Fame and was named to the Upper Ohio Valley Dapper Dan Club for Outstanding Achievement in 1993. Additional staff members include James P. Reilley of the University of Toledo Medical Center; “Crazy” George Schawer, a former University of Minnesota basketball player and current basketball entertainer; and Troy Geiser, director of basketball for Shoot-A-Way, who has also been named District Coach of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2006.
