Colin Mishler honored by IVC
Former Hiland athletic director Colin Mishler has been selected for the Inter-Valley Conference Achievement Award this year.Mishler served the students of Hiland High School for 35 years. He was a varsity track coach and assisted at various levels with the boys basketball program. He served as athletic director for 22 years, during which time he initiated two new athletic programs (girls softball and soccer). Also during his tenure, the following facility improvements were made: construction of the Perry Reese Jr. Community Center, new baseball and softball fields, soccer field lighting, new tennis courts and improvements to locker room and press box facilities at the soccer field.
Mishler was a member of the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrator’s Association for 20 years, serving as secretary, vice-president, president and past-president.
He also served for terms on the OHSAA State Board of Directors, both as an Eastern District representative and as and OIAAA representative.
He has been an OHSAA tournament manager in boys and girls soccer, softball and baseball, and was named Athletic Administrator of the Year by the Eastern OIAAA. Other awards include the Distinguished Service Award by the OIAAA and is a member of the Holmes County Sports Hall of Fame.
He and his wife Julia have been married 44 years.
