Hiland JV remains perfect

                        
JV sweeps twin bill The Hiland junior varsity baseball team swept a doubleheader from Tusky Valley on Saturday, May 1, winning game one, 13-0, and taking game two, 14-4. Jeremy Schlabach was stellar in the twin bill, going four strong innings of one-hit ball in the first contest to gain the win, while going 5-for-5 at the plate in the two games, including a triple, home run, five RBI and two intentional walks. Neil Mast also excelled at the plate, knocking out four hits and driving in four runs. Caleb Schlabach took the mound for the Hawks in game two, gaining the win. The junior varsity Hawks now stand at a perfect 12-0 for the season. Frosh top Canton Central Catholic The Hiland freshman baseball team got a measure of revenge last week, knocking off a talented Canton Central Catholic team which had defeated them earlier in the season, 6-3. The Hawks rode the pitching of Grant Stutzman and Sheldon Mullet, who earned the win in three innings of spotless relief, to a 9-5 win. At the plate, Richie Mast banged out a pair of hits, while Mullet had two knocks, including a triple. Kevin Schrock scored three times. The Hawks rallied from a 5-4 deficit in the sixth inning, scoring three in that frame and then tacking on two more in the seventh. In Hiland’s 11-3 win over Clear Fork, Jaden Beachy rapped out three hits and drove in five runs, while Bryce Mast added two hits and scored three runs. Kevin Schrock got the win on the mound, hurling five innings and striking out nine. The Hawks stand at 7-2 on the campaign.
