Knights harriers sweep Orrville quad and make strong show at Ashland

                        
The West Holmes boys finished fifth out of 17 teams competing at the Ashland Invitational on Saturday. Jared Zollars cracked the top 10, finishing ninth in 17:16. Nick Wolff and Cully Gordon were next for the Knights, running 45th and 46th. Wolff clocked in at 18:43 and Gordon was right behind at 18:44. Matt Stonebrook finished 62nd in 18:59 and Brett McClain finished 64th in 19:02. Tim Young (79, 20:21) and Tyler Brown (121, 20:21) also competed for the Knights. There were 242 runners overall. The Lady Knights placed eighth out of 17 teams led by Macy Adkins and Nichole Peterman, who finished among the top 30 runners out of 217. Adkins placed 28th in 21:33 and Peterman finished 30th in 21:43. Lorraine Strouse ran 51st in 22:27 and Bethany Molnar finished 59th in 22:41. Morganne Fair was 134th in 25:27 and Miranda Hostetler finished 135th in 25:32. Lauren Evans rounded out the field for West Holmes with a 142nd-place finish in 25:56. West Holmes boys and girls were winners at the Orrville Quad on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Jared Zollars led the Knights with a second place finish in 17:14. There were 43 runners competing. Brett McClain (fourth, 18:45), Cully Gordon (seventh, 19:09), Matt Stonebrook (eighth, 19:16) and Nick Wolff (ninth, 19:24) all finished in the top 10 to lead West Holmes. Orrville finished second, followed by Triway and Smithville. Tim Young (11th, 19:47) and Taylor Eliot (21st, 21:49) also competed for the Knights. The Lady Knights packed four runners into the top five to win the girls’ race. Macy Adkins took second in 22:02 with Nichole Peterman right behind in third at 22:16. Lorraine Strouse ran fourth (23:26) and Bethany Molnar finished fifth in 23:31. There were 29 runners in the girls race. Miranda Hostetler finished 16th in 26:33. Lauren Evans ran 21st in 27:40 and Laura Miller finished 24th (29:09).
