West Holmes had the same problems in the tournament the Knights had all season long, falling in the Division II Sectional opener against Maysville. The Knights had a hard time getting a shot to fall and also made too many ball handling mistakes, dropping a 61-38 decision to the Panthers. The Knights managed eight of 22 with nine turnovers in the first half, which led to maysville opening up a 40-21 lead at the half. Things didn’t get any better for West Holmes in the second half as the Panthers poured it on and sent the Knights home with a 1-20 record. Sam Meyer paced the Knights with 11 points. Gabe Snyder added six and Keaton Leppla five for West Holmes. First-year coach Jim Lindeman said he appreciated the hard work and the effort the seniors put in this year, and he hopes the younger plays will continue to work hard as the Knights try and build their program. “We learned how to play hard this year. Now we’ve got to continue to learn how to win,” Lindeman said. “Even though the score tonight, and some of the scores throughout the season don’t indicate it, we did get better. We improved in several areas.”
