Lady Hawks post a pair of victories over Triway and Ridgewood
The Lady Hawks posted a pair of impressive wins last week, blanking Ridgewood 3-0 on Saturday, Sept. 26, and scoring a 3-1 win over Triway on Thursday, Sept. 24.“We played very well today with everyone contributing,” said Hiland coach Pat Miller after his team dominated the Generals with a 15-3 edge in shots on goal in Saturday’s win.
Irelie Riggle scored once. Hannah Stoneman added a goal and an assist, and Selena Hererra tacked on a tally. Julie Raber added an assist.
“We passed well and took advantage of the messy weather,” Miller said. We had three really nice goals and played great defensively.
Lindsey Kline made three saves in goal for the Hawks.
Against the Titans, Triway scored first but the Lady Hawks rebounded with three unanswered goals.
Riggle scored a pair of goals and added an assist. Braylee Miller scored one and assisted on another.
“The girls stepped up after giving up an early goal,” Miller said. “Our intensity was great and the girls were enjoying themselves. We did a great job winning balls in the midfield.”
Hiland held a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. Kline had two saves.
