The Lady Knights got off to a slow start and were unable to overcome the early deficit, dropping a 45-30 decision in the season-opener Saturday, Nov. 28, in Dresden. West Holmes managed only six points in the first quarter as Tri-Valley built a 14-6 advantage, stretching the lead to 29-16 at intermission. The Scotties took the third quarter 13-8 to build a 42-24 lead heading into the final frame. Lindsy Snyder was a force inside for the Lady Knights. The junior post hit six of 10 shots from the field and added four free throws to finish with a team-high 16 points. She also muscled down six rebounds, including three offensive boards, while matching up against the powerful post players of the Scotties. Lindsey Arnold added five points and Bethany Molnar and Justice Wright chipped in four points apiece to lead West Holmes. Paige Asche split a pair of free throws to round out the scoring. Hanna Luburgh, Tri-Valley’s wing player, who will be taking her talents to Akron University next season, lead the Scotties with 15 points and seven rebounds. She canned two triples. Carly Young added 10 points and Alyssa Miller chipped in eight for the winners. West Holmes managed only 11-of-30 from the field, missing all three 3-pointers the Lady Knights attempted. The girls finished eight-of 12 from the foul line.
