Lady Knights softball splits with Wooster

                        
West Holmes bounced back from a 9-1 deficit to score 10 times in the fifth inning, taking advantage of eight Wooster errors and banging out five hits in the frame to pull out an 11-10 triumph over the Lady Generals in softball action Wednesday, March 31, at West Holmes. “We struggled in the beginning, never gave up, and battled back,” said West Holmes coach Jaime Chenevey. “I am so proud of the girls.” Ayla Uhl scored three times without the benefit of a hit. She walked once and reached twice on Wooster errors. Kara Schrock banged out four hits in four at-bats, driving in three runs. Brooke Landon also drove in three runs on one hit. Kylie Hawkins was tagged for six runs in the first inning and two-thirds. Kayla Boals picked up the win in relief. She scattered six hits, striking out four and walking one. On Tuesday, March 30, at Wooster, West Holmes fell behind early and never recovered, dropping an 8-0 decision. Wooster roughed up Boals for eight runs on 12 hits. “That was a rough first outing, not at all what we expected,” Chenevey said. West Holmes was held hitless, but walked six times. Persinger was the winning pitcher.
