Lexington, Orrville keep Knights winless
The Knights found themselves in front of the Minutemen 17-12 after the opening eight minutes of action Saturday, Jan. 30, in an Ohio Cardinal Conference tilt in Lexington.A 22-2 run by the hosts in the second quarter, however, got things turned around for the Minutemen, who sailed past West Holmes 63-45.
Turnovers once again plagued the Knights, who coughed it up 23 times against the Minutemen press.
Stewart Sabine led the West Holmes offense with 11 points. Keaton Leppla added nine points and four rebounds. Parker Abraham pitched in seven points for the Knights. Gabe Snyder and Brock Macaulay chipped in four points apiece.
The loss dropped West Holmes to 0-15 on the season, 0-10 in the OCC.
On Friday, Jan. 29, at Orrville, the Red Riders jumped out to a fast start and never looked back in blasting the Knights 64-33.
Orrville opened up a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and stretched its lead to 41-11 at the half.
The Knights were paced by six points apiece from Sabine and Taylor Owen.
Snyder chipped in five points and Adam Polen pitched in four.
Orrville was paced by Zach Wasson’s 15 and 12 from Jake Bolyard.
The night wasn’t a total loss for West Holmes, as the JV pulled out a 42-37 win over the Red Riders to complete the season sweep.
