Morris and Peterman shine in leading Knights to fourth place

                        
Luke Morris had a first-place finish and a second, the 4x800 relay team was victorious, and Jeremy Anderson won the long jump, helping the Knights to a fourth-place finish as a team at the 10-team Claymont Jeff Arthurs Invitational. Morris clocked the fastest time in the 200-meter dash, winning the event in 23.70. The junior also scored a second-place finish in 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 16.5. Brett McClain, Jared Zollars, Grant Strouse and Nick Wolff teamed up to win the 4x800 in 8:39.8. Zollars added a second-place showing in the 800-meters, running a 2:03.4. McClain finished sixth (2:11.0). Anderson won the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 9.75-inches. Sloan Le and Grant Hay finished third and fourth in the pole vault. Le cleared 10-feet and Hay vaulted 9-6. West Holmes added a pair of thirds in the 4x200 relay and the 4x100. The 800-meter quartet of Joey Alexander, Anderson, Quin Strouse and Morris clocked in at 1:34.8. The same foursome ran a 46.2 in the 400-meter relay. McClain, Alexander, Wolff and Grant Strouse teamed up to finish fifth in the 4x400 (4:00.10). Cully Gordon was fifth in the 3200 (10:56), and Wolff was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (44.5). Alexander was sixth in the 400 (55:07) and Anderson added a sixth-place in the 100-meter dash (11.72). Copley and Indian Valley were tied for first place with 103 points. Ridgewood was next with 92 points and the Knights were next with 77. Carrollton was fifth (63). Claymont, Fairless, Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Mansfield Christian and Akron Hoban rounded out the scoring. Lady Knights Nichole Peterman scored a first in the 300-meter hurdles and added a pair of seconds as part of the 4x400 and the 4x100, helping the Lady Knights to a fourth-place finish at Claymont. Peterman won the 300-meter hurdles in 50.30. Teammate Morganne Fair added a fourth in the event in 54.20. Peterman teamed up with freshman Kendra Martin, Fair and Rachil Reynolds in the 1600 to place second in 4:31.30. The sophomore Peterman joined Martin, Fair and Jasmine Troyer to take second in the 400-meter relay as well, clocking in at 54.90. Macy Adkins added a second in the 1600-meters (5:58.10) and a fifth in the 800 (2:46.90). Martin chipped in with a second-place showing in the 100-meter hurdles (17.9) and senior speedster Troyer was second in the 100-meter dash (13.5). Martin, Reynolds, Peterman and Troyer teamed up to take third in the 800-meter relay (1:54.30). The Lady Knights also got third-place finishes from Reynolds in the long jump (13-8.75) and Rebecca Chamberlin in the discus (102-2). Haley Polen and Lorraine Strouse finished five-six in the high jump. Polen cleared 4-6 and Strouse jumped 4-4. Mary Nelson added a sixth in the 3200 to round out the scoring for West Holmes. Copley took first place as a team (109.33), followed by Indian Valley (104.33) and Ridgewood (92.33). West Holmes finished fourth with 80. Carrollton (58) and Fairless (54) were next, followed by TCC, Claymont, Mansfield Christian and Akron Hoban.
