OHSAA releases postseason tourney brackets
Hiland opens the postseason volleyball tournament at home against the winner of Bishop Rosecrans-Hannibal River on Oct. 20.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its 2022 statewide boys/girls soccer and volleyball tournament brackets on Oct. 9.
Here’s a look at where the Garaway, Hiland and West Holmes teams will be headed for tournament play.
Boys Soccer
DIVISION II EAST 2 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. Steubenville; 3. Maysville; 4. River View
Local in bracket: 17. West Holmes
What to watch for: The Knights begin the tourney at Steubenville in a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 25 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
DIVISION III CENTRAL 1 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Worthington Christian
Local in bracket: 6. Hiland
What to watch for: The Hawks start the tourney at home against the winner of No. 10 Liberty Christian-No. 16 West Jefferson in a sectional final at 7 p.m. Oct. 24.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 26 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
Girls Soccer
DIVISION II EAST 1 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. West Holmes; 3. Dover
What to watch for: The East District is split into two district tournaments. New Philadelphia earned the top overall seed and is the top team in the East 2 District. West Holmes, the second overall seed, earned the top seed in the East 1 District.
The Lady Knights begin the tourney at home against the winner of No. 13 Maysville-No. 14 Indian Creek in a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 26 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
DIVISION III CENTRAL 2 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Worthington Christian; 4. Columbus School for Girls
Local in bracket: 5. Hiland
What to watch for: The Lady Hawks start the tourney on their home field against No. 18 Fisher Catholic in a sectional final at 3 p.m. Oct. 22.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 25 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
Volleyball
DIVISION II EAST 1 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. East Liverpool; 3. New Philadelphia; 4. Coshocton
Local in bracket: 18. West Holmes
What to watch for: The Lady Knights open the tourney at No. 13 Morgan in a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. Oct. 17. With a win, West Holmes will travel to New Philadelphia for a sectional final at 7 p.m. Oct. 19.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 25 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
DIVISION III EAST
DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 1. Meadowbrook; 2. Sandy Valley; 3. Tuscarawas Valley; 4. Buckeye Trail
Local in bracket: 5. Garaway
What to watch for: The Lady Pirates begin the tourney at home against No. 10 Richmond Edison in a sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. Oct. 18. With a win, Garaway will face the winner of Buckeye Trail-No. 12 Ridgewood in a sectional final at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Meadowbrook High School.
District: Semifinals are Oct. 26 and final is Oct. 29 at a location to be determined.
DIVISION IV EAST 2 DISTRICT
Top seeds in bracket: 2. Hiland; 3. Caldwell; 4. Tuscarawas Central Catholic
What to watch for: The East District is split into two district tournaments. Shenandoah earned the top overall seed and is the top team in the East 1 District. Hiland, the second overall seed, earned the top seed in the East 2 District.
