A week after becoming an All-Ohioan in the 300-meter hurdles, by finishing seventh in the State Tournament finals at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University back on June 4, West Holmes graduate and future Ashland University track star, Luke Morris was voted a District Five all-star in the 300 as well as the 110-meter hurdles. Joining Morris as an all-star, West Holmes freshman, two-event State qualifier, Paiten Strother was named a District Five all-star in her two State qualifying events -- including the long jump and the 4 X 200-meter relay -- while also receiving all-star recognition in the 200-meter dash and the 4 X 100-meter relay. Fellow Lady Knights freshmen, Kennedy Smith and Carly Woodruff, along with sophomore Kendra Martin, were also named District Five all-stars in both relay events after teaming up with Strother for both and running the 4 X 200 at the State meet. Along with the five West Holmes State qualifiers, Lady Knights weights specialist Rebecca Chamberlin received District Five all-star honors in the discus event after wrapping up her junior season with a personal best throw of 111’ 6”, finishing eighth at the Division II Meadowbrook Regional tournament down in Byesville on May 28. While Morris will be running for Eagles head coach Jud Logan in 2012, all five Lady Knights District Five all-stars will be back next season for former Ashland College track star, Rich Patterson, who will be entering his second season as West Holmes head track and field coach.
