West Holmes takes its show on the road Friday night, heading to Mansfield to take on the Tygers. Both teams are seeking their first league win.Mansfield has had a tough season similar to that of the Knights. The Tygers are 0-3 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference, 2-4 overall, just as West Holmes.
Junior quarterback Terrence Deener runs the wide open offense of the Tygers. He has thrown for more than 700 yards, averaging about 14 yards per pass. He has thrown for six touchdowns and run for four more. He has been intercepted three times.
Mitchell Tridico is the most effective receiver, but Deener has several explosive weapons from which to choose.
Tridico had seven catches for 209 yards through the first five games, averaging almost 30 yards per catch with a pair of scores.
Jon Bessick and Jamarkus O’Neal are the most utilized receivers, leading the way with 11 receptions apiece. Bessick averages around 10 yards per catch and has a touchdown, while O’Neal averages close to 14 yards per catch. Another receiver is Ian Pingitore who has hauled in 10 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown.
When the Tygers do run, Terrell Dorsey does the bulk of the work. He has run 43 times for 103 yards on the season with a pair of touchdowns. Another running back is Daron Taylor. He has 153 yards on 33 carries.
Leading the Mansfield defense are a pair of linebackers. Torry Bradshaw led the team with 39 tackles (13) solo through the first five games. Aaron Gladney has been in on 30 tackles for the Tygers.
