The annual Monday Night Ladies Golf League guest night, best ball scramble, came down to a tie-breaker on Monday, July 25, as league veterans Jan Fuchs, Arlene Radden, Ruth Schlabach and Vicki Schlabach literally strung together the victory at Fire Ridge Golf Course in Millersburg.

With a combined total of 25 members and guests in attendance, and out on the links, each foursome was given a baggie with a length of string inside, along with a pair of scissors.

The string could be cut and used to continue any stroke, without adding an extra stroke to the team score, but any tie would be settled by measuring the remaining piece of string at the end of the round.

After nine holes, four teams were tied for the lead, at 33, with Fuchs, Radden, Ruth Schlabach and Vicki Schlabach eventually producing the longest piece of intact string to claim the victory and make the clubhouse baked potato bar and dessert serving seem that much more sweet.

League members, old and new, will be back to regular nine-hole play on Monday, August 1.
