College of Wooster has upcoming arts events
The College of Wooster will present a variety of arts events throughout the spring semester. Events are presented by the departments of music, theater and dance and The College of Wooster Art Museum. A variety of events will showcase the talents of students from majors across Wooster’s liberal arts curriculum.
Upcoming events include the following:
Artist talk by Weiting Wei
On Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. at Ebert Art Center, 1220 Beall Ave., as part of the opening of The College of Wooster Art Museum’s exhibition “Weiting Wei: Inner Power,” artist Weiting Wei will give an overview of her artwork and the themes of the exhibition, which deal with pregnancy, children and motherhood, interwoven with memories and traditions from Wei’s childhood.
Theater and dance I.S. performances
At Shoolroy Theatre in the Freedlander Theatre building, 329 E. University St., performances will be Jan. 30 through Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. With pieces devised by students Eleanor Boomhower, Co Clark, Morgan Hunter and Cam Love, these performances will demonstrate each student’s individual research interests and artistic styles in theater and dance. Love and Clark’s performances will be Jan. 30 and Feb. 1 while Boomhower and Hunter’s performances will be Jan. 31 and Feb. 2. Tickets will be available at the box office in Freedlander Theatre or at www.wooster.edu/snippet/tickets.
Wooster Symphony Orchestra concert
At Gault Recital Hall in Scheide Music Center, 525 E. University St., performances will take place Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. Conducted by Jeffrey Lindberg, professor of music at the college, the Wooster Symphony Orchestra is comprised of both students and community members and offers experience playing orchestral literature of musical genres ranging from the baroque period to contemporary.
