Organic Farming Conference is Nov. 7-8 in Mt. Hope
The ninth annual Organic Farming Conference will take place Nov. 7-8 at the Mt. Hope Event Center.
The Organic Farming Conference provides a platform for organic farmers, enthusiasts and experts to exchange ideas, share stories, and learn about the latest tools and practices in organic farming.
This year’s conference will feature a range of presenters on topics vital to sustainable farming and living:
—Healthy Soils: Troy Hinke and Ben Ice will dive into the importance of soil health for sustainable farming.
—Dairy and Beef Farming: Presentations by Jim Gardiner, Thomas Heckman and Vernon (Shorty) Hochstetler will focus on organic practices in dairy and beef production.
—Profitability in Organic Farming: Jeff Frank, CEO of Organic Valley, will share insights on how to apply business principles for profitability in farming.
—Local Farming Tips: Local experts will present on topics such as diversifying the family farm and maintaining a backyard orchard.
The conference also includes panel discussions on topics such as the following:
—Applying the “lean” method to streamline farm operations.
—Strategies for passing the farm to the next generation.
—Creating habitats that promote biodiversity and support nature.
Organic Home Section
Geared toward women of all ages, this section will cover a variety of sustainable living topics including the following:

There also will be a panel on household budgeting to help manage finances sustainably.
