Prairie Partners 4-H club held its meeting May 5 at Holmesville Elementary with 12 members, two advisors and five parents in attendance. Devotion was led by Anabelle Thompson, and the pledges to the flags were led by Boone Thompson and Valerie Schlegel.

The club took a field trip across the street to tour the Prairie Township Fire Department for health and safety. The secretary’s minutes and treasurer’s report were both read and approved.

The club donated to the Nebraska flooding. Fence posts, fencing and wire were purchased with the donation. The club also voted to donate funds toward the new scale that will be used at the fair to weigh the hogs, sheep and goats. Each family received a club brochure and 2019 fair book.

Project books also were handed out. Demonstrations were given by Anabelle and Boone Thompson. Anabelle Thompson taught a card trick, and Boone Thompson showed how to pitch a baseball. Clover Buds did fire safety activities.

The next meeting will take place Saturday, May 25 at the Holmes County Rails-to-Trails. Club members should bring shovels, gloves, rakes, buckets and such to help with the community-service project.
