Wayne Center for the Arts announced the expansion of its music department with a new opportunity for local brass musicians. The newly formed Caroling Brass Choir is open to all brass players from seventh grade and up. Weekly rehearsals will lead up to a performance at Window Wonderland on Nov. 22, with the possibility of additional appearances at other holiday events.

Musicians are invited to bring their trumpets, French horns, trombones, baritones or tubas and join in spreading holiday joy through the heart of downtown Wooster.

“This is a fabulous opportunity for fellow musicians to gather and join in the holiday spirit downtown,” said Beth Negro, music department coordinator for Wayne Center for the Arts.

The choir will be led by Isaac Franks, a graduate of Ashland University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, specializing in trombone and low brass. Rehearsals will begin Oct. 24 and will be held every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. until Nov. 21. Participation in the Caroling Brass Choir is free.

“We are looking forward to having this group enhance the Window Wonderland experience,” said Kerri Manley, project coordinator for Main Street Wooster. “This will be a cherished part of the sights and sounds that make this event what it is. There is so much to see and do at Window Wonderland, and we feel honored to have the Caroling Brass Choir joining us this year.”

Brass musicians with basic experience are encouraged to join by registering on the Wayne Center for the Arts website. Visit www.WayneArtsCenter.org/brass.
