Don Dixon to perform at next MassMu concert event
The Massillon Museum’s Rhythms Concert Series will feature music producer and recording artist Don Dixon on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and galleries will remain open until the concert starts in Gessner Hall. A cash bar will be available. Tickets at $12 each or $10 per member can be purchased at www.MassillonMuseum.org/Tickets, in person or by calling 330-833-4061. Membership will be verified at the door; memberships can be purchased at any time.
Dixon helped revive jangle pop by 1980s indie bands. He has been a professional musician since he was in eighth grade and made his first recording at age 15.
Throughout the ensuing decades, he has worked with REM, Mary Chapin Carpenter, the Smithereens, Kim Carnes, the Red Clay Ramblers and Gin Blossoms. His latest release was “Gunny Sack” in 2023.
Joe Cocker, Counting Crows, and Hootie and the Blowfish have recorded songs Dixon wrote or co-wrote. A South Carolina native, he came to Ohio to produce Marti Jones’ music. They married and now call Canton home. The rock musician has played in 48 states, Europe, Scandinavia and Australia. He frequently performs in Nashville, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and New York.
